The Educational Goal Of Psychology

July 21st, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Psychology is the study of behavior. Educational psychology is the study of teachers, students, educational curriculums and training methods. It provides a database of facts. It also develops generalizations to be applied in the classroom. Educational psychology is also called applied psychology.
The main objective of the educational psychology is to help the teachers in teaching the students. However, there are certain benefits that you can get as a teacher:
1. You can develop certain convictions with the help of educational psychology to promote your students’ mental growth, improve their learning process and develop their personalities. You can also help them in their social behaviors.
2. You can define and set-up education objectives of your students in terms of their conducts, attitudes and behaviors. When you have a clear picture of your refined goals and objectives, you can develop a befitting curriculum besides improving your teaching methods.
3. The educational psychology is not a one-way traffic. Being a teacher, you can solve your own behavioral problems as well. You can develop a certain level of sympathy and objectivity with the problems of your students to get the best results.
4. You can achieve better understanding of behaviors of your students. You can make them realize importance of social relationships and improve their social confidence, their participation in groups and cooperativeness.
5. You can analyze your collected data and use the generalized convictions in handling certain educational situations such as selection of instruction material, structure of teaching methods and development of desired outcomes. The instruction modules should be developed in a way that the instruction material and the teaching methods should not obstruct the learning process.
6. You can develop a better perspective for judging both the results of your own teachings and the educational practices of your colleagues. The educational psychology provides a background to handle intricacies involved in teaching of children. It helps you to develop a scientific, objective and problem solving mindset towards the learning process.
7. You can analyze behaviors of your students and find solid ways for normal adjustment and personality development. The educational psychology also helps you to set up and define progressive teaching education. You can develop guidance programs and functional formats for organizational and administrative matters.
8. A scientific usage of the educational psychology can also help you to solve certain clinical problems such as reading disability, stammering, chronic offensive attitudes and emotional disturbance. However, it is advisable to consult professional psychiatrist in severe cases.
Educational psychology offers ways to study student behavior and handle educational problems. Research has shown that educational psychology can help teachers achieve their educational goals.

Balls: Still A Great Toy For Kids

July 21st, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Balls have been around for centuries as a play thing for children. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but balls are played with throughout the world today. Numerous sports require a ball of some type, including football, tennis, soccer, basketball, and many more. A ball is a timeless gift to a child, and it can provide hours of amusement. Not to mention a great way for your child to stay active and fit.
Sports have been around for centuries, and the ball has played an important part of almost every sport in the history of mankind. The fist balls in history were made from rock, and imagine how heavy they were. Ancient Brazilian and Mexican Native Indians were responsible for the first rubber balls in history, and these were made from bands of cloth that were dipped in the resin of certain rubber trees. This gave a new aspect to the ball, and now a ball could actually bounce. This made a whole new entertainment aspect for balls, and they became even more popular as a gift to kids.
Today balls are manufactured out of a variety of materials, depending on what the finished ball will be used for. There are balls made from vinyl, rubber, animal skin, synthetic materials, and various types of plastic. Footballs are made from plastic or real pig skin leather, while basketballs usually have a rubber base to help them bounce some. All kids will enjoy a gift of a ball. It gives the child a way to combat boredom and amuse themselves. Chasing a ball is also a terrific way for your child to get some exercise, and lack of exercise is the most common medical problem in kids today. Why not give your kid a gift that will keep him fit and healthy, instead of a video game system that encourages children to sit down and not move.
Balls can be combined with other sports equipment in a gift to kids to double the fun. Balls may come in combination with baseball bats and gloves, golf clubs and tees, and other equipment. No matter whether the ball is alone or together with other equipment, your child will have hours of fun and enjoyment playing the same way children have played through the centuries. A bouncy ball is a popular favorite gift for kids, as it can be tossed against a building and then caught when it bounces back.

What Is Combinatorial Chemistry?

July 21st, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Combinatorial chemistry has the greatest of potential to accelerate the drug discovery and the focus primarily has been very compelling to most companies in the pharmaceutical field. Almost every pharmaceutical company out there has some kind of such a department up and running in its laboratories.
In 1980, Mario Geysen started to synthesize peptides in large amounts; they were first parallel fashioned, then later mixtures. R. Bruce Merrifield hailing from the University Rockefeller in 1960, developed a technique classically known as synthesis solid phase, this became a key in production of proteins entirety and the enzymes over the last few decades. It is also basis for synthesis of solid phase organics explosion. Whereas, the diversity molecules could be shown to produce nearly an infinite type of organometallics, steroids, carbohydrates and heterocyclic, all the while attached by only one link reversible to support of suitable polymeric.
Combinatorial chemistry is a new original way of quickly synthesizing several substances at the exact same time. Organic chemists are the primary users of this sphere of chemistry, they are searching for a new drug and this chemistry is being applied to field like catalysts, superconductors, polymers and semiconductors.
Using the combchemistry makes it easier and less expensive to test and make many more of the compounds.
Over $400 million dollars is needed when developing a drug that is new and taking it to the market. Combinatorial chemistry lets these pharmaceutical companies achieve this in mere months as opposed to years.
Discoveries of new drug companies are being formed. This chemistry also helps in the clinical studies that these pharmaceutical companies are doing.
These ways of this kind of chemistry show high promise of the development of drugs to use as anticancer treatments, which is one of the largest killers of people to date.
All in all combinatorial chemistry is classified as being new in the field of chemistry, but it has concepts and its techniques are novel in the rapid succession and the screening of compounds in larger quantities.
Combinatorial chemistry is one of the areas of advancement for chemistry along with discovery of newer drugs. This chemistry utilizes parallel synthesis and techniques that will increase the thoroughfare to discovery.
An aspect which is crucial to combchemistry is that of identifying resulting compounds. A (MS) mass spectrometer will analyze the results for faster evaluation. These are made by Bruker, Waters, and Thermo Electron and Applied Biosystems manufacturers.
Once a library of these chemical compounds from the combinatorial chemistry has been established they are put into so called “libraries”. Once a library has been established the company and chemists must work efficiently and very quickly in the screening of these compounds. This is made as a way for cell based assays to be ran functionally and accurate.
Combinatorial chemistry is a great tool used in the optimization of drugs today in the pharmaceutical world.

Polyphonic Ringtones – Get Rid of the Monophonic Ones

July 21st, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

A ring tone is the sound made by a telephone to indicate an incoming call. The term is most often used to refer to the customisable sounds available on mobile phones. The facility was originally provided so that people would be able to determine when their phone was ringing when in the company of other mobile phone owners.
A phone only rings when a special “ring signal” is sent to it. For regular telephones, the ring signal is a 90-volt 20-hertz AC wave generated from the switch that the telephone is connected to. For mobile phones, the ring signal is a specific radio-frequency signal.
An alternative to a ring tone is a vibrating alert. It is especially useful:
* in noisy environments * in places where ring tone noise would be disturbing * for the hearing impaired
Polyphonic
Polyphonic means that multiple tones can be played at the same time using instrument sounds such as guitar, drums, electronic piano, etc. Many phones are now able to play more complex polytones; up to 40 individual notes with different instruments are played simultaneously to give a more realistic musical sound. Mobile phone handsets manufacturers have taken full advantage of new technologies to improve speakers in order to produce a better sound quality.
The quality of a polyphonic ringtone is much higher than a monophonic ringtone. If your mobile handset does not support mp3 ringtones, then polyphonic ringtones are the best you can opt for. But in case your handset supports mp3, then that is the option you should go for. By the way, polyphonic ringtones are also available free of cost but there are some select ringtones that are also chargeable.
Ring tones, along with operator logos, have proven a popular method of personalising phones – a major industry has popped up to tailor to the needs of people to customise their phones, and newer phones include features to allow users to create their own tones. Many people enjoy their personalisation of the phones, but some find certain ring tones annoying in public and in certain public situations. One of the classic ring tones was parodied by The Daily Show’s Stephen Colbert as “You’re annoying/Stupid douchebag/Turn your phone off now”
Many companies have set up businesses selling ring tones, advertising them on television and web sites. One criticism of the industry is the subscription some companies lock customers into, requiring them to actively cancel their account or be charged for unwanted messages and ring tones sent to them on a weekly basis.
The sale of ring tones has also been a massive boost to the record industry, earning them extra revenues through royalties.
The newer phones equipped with Bluetooth or PC-link up however, allow users to transfer ringtones created on a PC, to their phone, for free. The user could even record themselves or their own tones and place them on the phone.

Is Fear Keeping You From Making A Career Change?

July 21st, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

We’re pretty darn good at playing mind games with ourselves aren’t we? Many of you have fooled yourselves into thinking that being afraid of changing your careers means you shouldn’t go ahead and pursue a employment change. You probably figured that if you’re that worried about making a employment career change happen, that maybe you shouldn’t even bother try and not bother to take any chances.
When did you become so consumed with fear? There are many people that feel that once they chose a career that they are tied to the same company or job field. Many people don’t think they have the options or abilities to switch employers and do something different. Many times we sell our abilities short! Without trying to make any changes, the more unhappy and discontent people become with their work. Many times when people consider a different field though, they become overwhelmed with fear and figure they are stuck where they are.
Many people feel that they may not like their new career or are not going to make enough money or just fearful that they will fail. Some of us think that we won’t even get that new job, so why bother even try? Perhaps you feel that the new job is beneath you and you feel like you are simply “wasting your degree”. Do you recognize any of these fears in you?
One of the ways to move past the career fears is by no longer waiting for your fear to disappear before changing employment and instead taking action despite being afraid. It’s very normal to be scared about changing careers. If you weren’t, I’d have to make sure that your heart is still beating! You have got to realize that you are not supposed to stop your fear in order to be able to change careers.
You accept your fear as a part of this career change process. Once you do, you let yourself be afraid but still take the steps needed to get that next job. In hindsight you then see that your fear was unfounded and really not a big deal after all! Let yourself feel the fear and take that first step. I promise, it won’t be that bad.

How to Increase Your Search Engine Result Position

July 20th, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Are you looking for a way to improve your search engine result position but are unsure where to turn to? You will be happy to know that to improve your current standing, you do not have to spend hundreds of dollars on banners or advertisement, instead, you just have to fine tune what is already on your website. It does not matter what service, product, or information you supply. You can improve your search engine result position by doing a few simple things.
The first thing that you can do is to swap links. The reason that you will want to do this is that all of the search engines do what is called spider. When the search engine spiders your website, they are looking for how many links are going to your website. The more links pointing to your website, the more important your website is thought to be, which improves your placement in the search engine results. Submitting your URL and site information to as many search engines and directories as possible will instantly create thousands of links back to your site and will increase your ranking reasonably fast. You should also try to include a link of every page of your website that links back to the home page of your site. This makes navigation of your site simple, and will make those that come to your site more likely to stick around and become a customer.
Another simple thing that you can do to increase your search engine result position is to work on your meta tags. The importance of meta tags are often overlooked, but they are very useful and will help your site get seen more easily by the search engines. Meta tags are basically hidden HTML tags. These tags are used to describe your site to the search engines when the search engine spiders your site. One tip is to keep your meta tags to 500 words or less and try to leave out words such as a, and, the, that, of, it, too, web, and other words that are called “stop words” that Internet spiders overlook.
Meta tags alone will not get you to a number one rank on the search engine results, but it will help you communicate to the search engines what you are all about and if you couple this with keyword rich content and links you should be in good shape and you will perhaps always be on the first page of search results, if not in the top ten.

Exercises For Seniors

July 20th, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Walking at a brisk pace is simply the single best exercise you can perform. If you are fifty years of age or older, it should be your activity of choice. To reach your goal of optimal health, resolve today to begin a regular program of walking, at a pace which will provide an excellent cardiovascular workout.
Before beginning any exercise routine, especially after age fifty, you would be wise to consult your physician. If there is anything on your chart that would call for caution, your doctor will so advise you. I am sixty five years of age and I enjoy brisk walking for one hour each day. I am careful not to exceed my maximum heart rate which is 155 beats per minute.
The target heart rate for me, for the greatest benefit, is seventy to eighty five percent of the maximum heart rate. That would be anywhere between 109 and 132 beats per minute. I maintain a rate of 120 beats per minute throughout my walk. You might not be able to exercise every day and you do not need to. If you are walking for 30 minutes three times a week or every other day that will be sufficient as long as you are training at a pace which will raise your pulse to the target rate for aerobic conditioning. If your heart rate is higher than the target for your age, slow down.
Taking your pulse as you walk is easy. Wear a watch and midway through your walk, stop for a few seconds to check your heart rate. This can be done by gently touching your neck or left wrist. When you feel the pulse, count the number of beats for a period of 10 seconds. Now multiply that by six. If for example you are 55 years of age and counted 22 heart beats in the 10 second time frame, your training heart rate is 132 beats per minute. That fits perfectly within the desirable range of seventy percent to eighty five percent of the maximum heart rate of 165 beats per minute.
Now you might be inclined to say you do not need to walk, you get enough exercise doing the household chores or walking to the car. Perhaps you play golf or go bowling. All of these activities are signs of life because while performing them, you are moving, but walking is different. Other exercises are good. Walking is great.
Here are just a few of the reasons for you to consider walking for health and well being. The degree of difficulty is low. You warm up and cool down by performing the exact same motion used during the walk, only you walk a little slower. It is a low intensity exercise with more time spent at a less strenuous level. You can do it alone or with friends. You can take your dog with you. During times of severe or inclement weather, you can move to an indoor track or mall.
Walking is basically an injury free activity, especially when compared to jogging. It is an excellent stress manager. No special skills are needed. No special equipment is required other than comfortable clothing and good walking shoes. Walking briskly provides an excellent cardiovascular workout. It develops muscle tone, endurance, strength and agility.
Walking out of doors amid pleasant surroundings gives you time and space to reflect. A good walk can lift you out of depressions, clear the mind, lift the spirit and even set the stage for problem solving later that day. You will lose fat, improve circulation, and expel waste matter through the lungs and skin. Increased intestinal motility results from the gentle swaying of the internal organs. Finally, walking fine tunes the metabolism, regulates the appetite, and increases your energy.
If you are between 50 and 100, a regular program of exercise can change your life and go a long way towards the prevention of diseases associated with aging. Why not get started this week? Speak to your doctor. Line up some comfortable clothing and break out those walking shoes. Aerobic walking is the best exercise, the best means, to eliminate or prevent sickness and suffering from your life, while extending your life expectancy.

Getting Your Song Idea Underway

July 20th, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

I had to write up a flow diagram the other day for the process I need to follow to get a song/lyric from idea to completion. You might find it useful;
1./ You are walking down the street thinking about nothing in particular. One thought leads to another and suddenly you are struck by what seems to be a great idea. A concept arrives waiting to be fleshed out. This is often called ‘ The Muse’. Any bit of inspiration or muse that passes by is worthy of pursuing. It might come from your walk down the street or it might come from an exercise such as object writing. Object writing is the process of writing from your senses about a particular object/thing/person/place or time, within a set time frame of 5 or ten minutes.
2./ If your great idea has not come from object writing then you need to do some; Find a quiet place to set yourself up with pen and notepad, or word processor if you’re computer inclined. Set a stopwatch or timer, most mobile phones have one these days, and write for 10 minutes on your subject. For example this afternoon I came up with the concept of “losing altitude”. This could be about a relationship running out of steam or taking a dip or going through a period of turbulence, so, the challenge is to get metaphors related to the concept and make them into useable phrases for our song. Here’s some example writing;
Losing altitude, we’re dropping down, my tummy is left up in the sky somewhere. Losing altitude, who’s in control of this plane? I’ve got my hand on the controls, but you keep wrestling them away. While we’re wrestling the plane is going into a dive and we’re losing altitude. The ground is spinning up to meet us, I want to jump out of this plane and be free wheeling on a parachute, pulling my own cords, not be your puppet on a string. etc.
Usually you can find a few choice phrases from your stream of consciousness sense based writing that can be valuable to expand on, which is part 3.
3./ Pick key words or themes from your main idea and find rhymes. I am a great fan of the methods of Pat Pattison of Berklee Music college. In his book Writing Better Lyrics Pat advocates that we not just look for perfect rhymes, but also family rhymes, assonant rhymes and near rhymes. So, from our example we might look at the words altitude, dropping, sky, control, plane, dive, losing, spinning, parachute and cords, to find a database of rhymes we can use.
For “altitude” you might try: solitude, latitude, attitude, unscrewed, voodooed, argued, stewed, mood and feud. Now any of those combinations can open up a world of possibilities,but if you stick ‘on theme’ you might get a coupe of rhyming lines like;
Hey, I know we argued
and you’re in a terrible mood
but, I’m reaching for my parachute, ‘cos , [ I brought in one of the other key words which happened to be a near rhyme]
baby, we’re losing altitude.
Not the greatest prose in the world but a starting point. What about dive? Drive, test-drive, arrive, survive, alive, real-life, jaws of life.
We’re in a nose dive
this isn’t a test-drive
if we’re gonna survive
somebody’s gonna have to go and get the jaws of life.
4./ Once you’ve got a few more ideas flowing try to story board your song and work out if there is a narrative flow. What will each part of the song say? To carry on the example, part one could be; boy and girl are going on holiday they are flying and he thinks that there are problems in the relationship. Part 2 could be the woman’s perspective, what she thinks is wrong. Part 3, a bridge, might be them playing out disaster scenarios, and a final verse might be a happy ending as they are coming in to land at their destination, losing altitude, but in a controlled way. Could this journey be a plan to rekindle the romance?
5./ Rewrite the main idea using new lyrical/rhyming ideas within the story board
6./ If you’re stuck for a rhythmic idea try to extract it from the working title of the song. Our working title of “losing altitude” could be broken up to represent he following; Loo-zing-al-ti-tude or, ta Tum ta ta Tum. Try ta Tum ta ta Tum at different speeds to see what matches the ‘feel’ of the song.
7./ Start speaking out loud some of your rough prose and rhyme to see how it might fit against the rhythm and start trying out melodic ideas
8./Hit the “record” button on your tape recorder or computer and get writing, and rewrite, rewrite, rewrite, until you’re done!

Custom Tattoo Designs

July 20th, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

You’re seriously considering getting your own tattoo, however your preliminary searches online have presented you with a whole range of designs and options regarding what sort of tattoo to get. Should you opt for a free design or go all out with a custom design? Right now we’ll focus on custom tattoo designs, explore what they are and what the benefits of going custom are.
What are Custom Tattoo Designs?
The name is very self-explanatory. Basically a custom tattoo design is a design which a designer creates just for you. In the truest sense, a custom tattoo design is created by a professional tattoo artist, skilled in the craft of creating tattoos. Many enthusiasts and professionals will argue that it is best to enlist a professional to create a custom design for you, because it is the best way of ensuring your design is of the highest quality. By enlisting a professional tattoo artist, you will also be able to request them to create the stencil of that design for you, so it can be applied directly to your skin. Every tattoo design requires a stencil, and this is always a much easier process if the tattoo artist also creates the design.
Why a Custom Tattoo Design?
A tattoo is a lifelong commitment, unless you have the courage and high pain tolerance threshold required for the laser surgery necessary for removing a permanent tattoo. Due to the fact that a tattoo is permanent, you need to make sure you absolutely love the tattoo that is about to be superimposed onto your skin. Chances are, you may already have a design in mind that you would like, however on the other hand, you may have already spent hours browsing designs and may wish to blend a number of designs into one. If this is the case, a custom tattoo design will be the best way to go.
By choosing to have a custom tattoo designed, you are working with a professional tattoo artist from day one. The artist will be able to create the design just for you, and also create the stencil for that specific design. The stencil will then be used by the tattoo artist when it comes time to superimpose the design onto your skin. Even if you were to design the tattoo yourself or enlist a non-professional to draw your design, your tattoo artist would still need to create the stencil. By engaging the tattoo artist from design through to inking, you are doing everything to ensure your tattoo is of the highest quality. That’s really important considering the permanence of the tattoo itself. Ideally you want to be able to display your tattoo proudly, without any embarrassment and custom design is the best way to achieve this.
Choosing your Custom Tattoo Design
If you already have the design you want firmly in your mind, it’s simply a matter of meeting with a professional tattoo artist to create something tangible. If you don’t as yet know what sort of design you want, the best thing to do is browse as many tattoo designs as possible. The internet is a great place to start and there are articles on this website that will direct you to quite a number of good tattoo design websites. As you will find, there are many tattoo design websites that will charge people a membership fee, if they wish to access and download design ideas. By all means join such websites if you haven’t been able to find inspiration from other designs you may have seen. These membership sites typically have a huge range of tattoo designs to choose from, and clearly, the more designs you see, the more of an idea you will eventually have when it comes to the tattoo you want. There are also a large number of tattoo enthusiast communities online, where people will post photographs of their tattoos and this may also provide you with inspiration that will help you to choose the design for you.
Finding the Inspiration for your Custom Tattoo Design
By conducting simple searches for terms such as, “tattoo designs” and “tattoo design galleries” using your favorite search engines, you will find a great array of tattoo design galleries for you to check out. It will take you time to find the designs that most appeal to you, because there are just so many options out there.
